Welcome to Kent State University Fraternity & Sorority Life!

Fraternity and Sorority Life has been in existence on college and university campuses across our country for over 100 years. Their traditions and rich history are examples of the excellence and the contributions they make. Fraternity and Sorority Life is one of the many opportunities for involvement and growth available for students at Kent State University. Many students develop lifelong friendships through Fraternity and Sorority Life. And most important, you’ll become a special part of the Kent State community – one that fits your interests and goals. In a sorority or fraternity, you can take part in community service, philanthropy, leadership, academic success and much more.

Take time to explore our Fraternity and Sorority community here at Kent State University by visiting the websites of each of our communities below.  Each site will give you information about each fraternity and sorority on campus, and will lead you to a calendar of events held throughout the school year. We recommend that you attend community events to get to know members of the Fraternity and Sorority community.  A decision to "Go Greek" could be the right decision for you!

FSL Community Philanthropic Partner: American Cancer Society

Relay for Life 2024: Our First Relay

Pictured here are some of our governing council leaders and the 2024 Relay for Life event planning committee members holding up their $10,000 check to the American Cancer Society!

Why did fsl choose relay for life and the american cancer society as its philanthropic partner?

Unfortunately, cancer effects us all. Everyone knows someone who has been diagnosed with cancer. The Kent State University Fraternity and Sorority Life community is committed to working together to raise funds and awareness for cancer research. The KSU FSL community is passionate about raising funds and awareness about their individual philanthropic partners, but were excited to come together for a greater cause that touches us all.

What is relay for life?

More than just a fundraising walk, the American Cancer Society Relay For Life brings together passionate supporters who embody the American Cancer Society vision to end cancer as we know it, for everyone. This volunteer-led experience unites communities to celebrate cancer survivors, remember loved ones lost to cancer, and raise funds to improve the lives of people with cancer and their families through advocacy, research, and patient support to ensure everyone has an opportunity to prevent, detect, treat, and survive cancer.

Although each Relay For Life event embraces the uniqueness of the home community, every event does have the same four signature elements: a celebration of cancer survivors, a celebration of caregivers, a luminaria ceremony to honor and remember loved ones, and the opportunity to fight back against cancer.

How can I get involved?

Visit our Relay for Life of Kent State University page & register as an individual participant, or create a team! This can be done at any point leading up to our Relay for Life event that will take place in Spring 2025. However, keep in mind: the earlier you register, the earlier you can start fundraising! You do not have to be a member of the FSL community to sign up as an individual or create a team! In fact, we welcome any and all students, organizations, and community partners to Relay alongside us!

If you want to help volunteer at or plan Relay for Life 2025: email Michele Criss, mcriss3@kent.edu & we will connect you with our planning committee!
